XR2ESILIENCE

The healthcare system is facing a crisis, and while the importance of nurses' mental health is recognized, achieving it remains challenging. Promoting resilience during crises is a promising goal for public mental health, and innovative digital technologies like extended reality (XR) may help. This project aims to utilize XR to enhance resilience among nursing staff. A cohort study and analysis of existing datasets will identify key resilience factors for intervention. It will also explore barriers and facilitators to acceptance of resilience training, particularly XR-supported methods. The XR2ESILIENCE solution will offer customizable XR modules developed in collaboration with nurses and stakeholders. Its effectiveness on stress coping and resilience will be tested in a randomized controlled trial, including a health economic evaluation. The project will address organizational challenges and identify environments that foster nurse resilience. Recommendations and checklists will be developed for employers and policymakers to create resilience-friendly nursing facilities. XR2ESILIENCE will establish a strategy for resilience training and the role of XR in this process.

Support4Resilience

Elderly care in Europe is experiencing labor shortages and a mismatch between capacity and demand, leading to decreased mental well-being among healthcare workers. To tackle these challenges, more research-based solutions are needed. The EU-funded Support4Resilience project aims to develop and assess a research-driven toolbox for leaders to enhance the resilience and mental well-being of healthcare workers and informal caregivers in elderly care. This project will offer recommendations and cost-effective interventions, including resources for mapping, reflection, education, and reorganization. The toolbox will be implemented at the organizational level and evaluated across elderly care settings in six European countries and Australia.

WELL CARE

In long-term care, the challenges faced by care workers and informal caregivers often go unnoticed. The demanding nature of their roles negatively impacts mental well-being, highlighting an urgent need for support. The EU-funded WELL CARE project aims to strengthen the resilience and mental health of these workers and caregivers. It focuses on four key objectives, including identifying innovative solutions and developing evidence-based recommendations for policymakers, with an emphasis on gender, inclusion, and occupation-specific factors. The effects of care partnerships extend from individual well-being to broader organizational support, providing valuable insights for policymakers.
